When is the next Festival?

While our official dates are still to be confirmed, join us in March 2027 for 18 unforgettable days and nights in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau.

Participation in the Festival as an artist or artistic company — whether local or international, emerging or established — is by invitation. You can make your work known to our Artistic Director and Kaihautu Māori (for works and ideas of kaupapa Māori, kaupapa Pasifika and Indigenous origin) for future consideration.

The Festival offers a range of accessible events and services, and annually consults with communities to improve these initiatives. Every year, we curate special opportunities for schools and students to experience the Festival and engage with artists and arts professionals. Many of these opportunities are offered for free.

Are children welcome?

Everyone is welcome at the Festival and we offer a range of family-friendly events. Some events may not be suitable for children under 3, and others come with an age recommendations and/or a content advisory. Please check the individual event pages on our website for this information.

The Festival has a rich history dating back to 1948. It became a biannual event in 2003 and has been an annual fixture on the Auckland event calendar since 2015.
