AUCKLAND, NZ: Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Arts Festival, running from 4–21 March 2027, has today revealed the first act set to join its 2027 programme, with the Olivier Award-nominated, West End acclaimed and globally adored The Choir of Man heading to the Festival Spiegeltent.

A worldwide hit that has played to hundreds of thousands of fans across four continents, The Choir of Man brings music, mateship, humour and a few cheeky beers together for a night out unlike anything else.

The Festival’s Signature Spiegeltent Event for 2027, The Choir of Man will transform the Spiegeltent into an English pub, complete with a real bar on stage, as a cast of nine extraordinary performers sing, dance, tap, slam poetry and serve up a setlist spanning pop, rock, folk, Broadway and pub favourites.

Featuring songs from Queen, Adele, Sia, Paul Simon, Guns N’ Roses, Avicii, Katy Perry, Luther Vandross and more, the 75-minute show combines big harmonies and foot-stomping singalongs with world-class tap dancing, multi-instrumentalists and big-hearted humour.

With acclaim from audiences and critics across the US, UK, Europe and Australia, The Choir of Man has become a global stage sensation, with sell-out tours, a four-year West End run and hundreds of thousands of fans across four continents.

Artistic Director Bernie Haldane says: “The Choir of Man will be the centrepiece of fun at this year’s Festival. It is joyful, generous and filled with brilliant music, but what makes it such a great fit for the Festival is the way it brings people together. Inside the beauty and intimacy of the Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent, the line between performers and audiences disappears, creating the kind of shared, unforgettable experience that festivals are all about.”

The Choir of Man is the first glimpse of the 2027 Auckland Arts Festival programme, with further shows and artists to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Following a 2026 Festival that welcomed more than 188,000 attendances and delivered a direct economic impact of $24.8 million for Auckland’s economy, the 2027 Festival will once again bring local and international artists to venues and spaces across Tāmaki Makaurau from 4–21 March 2027.

Tickets for the first two weeks of The Choir of Man will be available soon. Priority access opens 30 September for Festival Patrons, Festival Friends and 2026 ticket purchasers, followed by Subscriber access on 1 October and general public sales from 2 October.

About the Festival

The Auckland Festival Trust has been the guardian of Te Ahurei Toi O Tamaki Auckland Arts Festival since 2001. Every March, the Festival proudly brings together local and international artists to celebrate creativity, culture and community across Tāmaki Makaurau.

Auckland was the first city in the Asia-Pacific region to establish a major arts festival. The original Auckland Festival ran from 1948 to 1982. The Auckland Festival Trust was established in 2001 following the Auckland City Council decision to launch a new bi-annual arts and cultural festival. In 2016, the Festival became annual and today it is one of New Zealand’s largest arts festivals, providing access to the arts for all Aucklanders and supporting visitor experiences across the city.
